What I know.
I know that once many parents have made the decision to invest in private tutoring they then worry about how they will find the perfect tutor for their child. As an educational professional with over 20 years experience in the field I can answer this question easily, but I appreciate that most parents do not have my expertise and insight. I speak to many parents that have already had several tutors for their child before they have come to me at NEGU Tuition Services. This is such a shame for the students as it may dampen their enthusiasm for the extra support and pleasure that private tuition can bring.
What do you need?
You need a tutor that has a firm grasp of the subject knowledge as well as the ability to constantly assess your child ( formative assessment ) and identify weaker areas. A tutor that can adapt their teaching style to the way your child learns, a tutor that can instill confidence in your child and fill in the knowledge gaps, a tutor that can help your child develop a love of learning and enthusiasm that they carry with them for life and a tutor that builds their confidence as they see for themselves the progress they have made and are capable of making.
How do you find it?
This is the tricky part. There are hundreds of tutoring options out there at a huge variety of cost. How do you know what ones are the best? The answer is simple. Do your research. Here are key things you should check: Do they have a Trust Pilot Rating? Were they recommended by someone that has used them before? Does the tutors have enhanced DBS? Have they got recognised teaching qualifications and/or relevant experience? Do they have reviews over a period of time? Is there someone you can talk to to discuss in depth your child’s educational journey so far?
Go with your instinct
I would always say speak to other parents in your circle and ask them for recommendations. There is nothing like a word of mouth recommendation from someone you know and trust. Once you have found a company or 2 that meet all the checklist above then give them a call. Speak to someone about your child. Ask what other things they provide. See how you feel. I can’t speak for other companies but here at NEGU Tuition I spend a lot of time talking to parents and tutors to ensure I can find the right tutor for your child. We do not take big deposits or ask that you sign up for a minimum 3 months tuition. We do not ask for 2 months notice to stop sessions. We work on a 24 notice basis. If for whatever reason you want to stop tutoring or take a break from it we are completely flexible.
How much tutoring do you need?
In general most students start with 1 hours tutoring a week. The key thing is consistency. If you want your child to make steady progress then 1-2-1 weekly sessions with the same tutor is the best approach. It will help build confidence in areas of weakness and hopefully motivate your child to look forward to their learning both at home and in school. An hour a week can help them to reinforce and embed what they already know as well as adding new experiences and knowledge to expand their understanding of a topic. Here at NEGU Tuition as well as the 1 hour tutoring session, we also provide Homework if required Individual Learning Plan (ILP) – Following the initial session the tutor will create an ILP bespoke to your child’s strengths and weaknesses. They will set targets that they plan to work on with your child over the next 5/6 sessions. Weekly Session Report – Letting you know the content of the session and how engaged your child was. Student Progress Report – These are completed by the tutor every 6 sessions and lets you know how they have performed against set targets, the targets they have successfully achieved and the new targets they will be working towards. Administration Support – Our team are available 7 days a week to answer any queries you may have Automated Payments – Taking the hassle out of paying each week. Please ensure your card details are correct on our system
What if you are not happy
This is really important. if you feel the tutor doesn’t have your child’s best interests at heart or you are just not sure that the sessions are going as you thought then it is VITAL that you speak to the tutor or someone like me to discuss your concerns. You know your child better than anyone and the more insight you give us, the more we can adapt the sessions to maximize learning and enjoyment for the student. Sometimes you may feel that a tutor is doing something in a way that doesn’t make sense. I quite often have chats with parents and explain why a tutor has taught something in a certain way and then they have a greater appreciation into the planning that goes into providing that student’s tuition. My main focus always has been and always will be the student. It is our job to make sure that the education our experienced tutors provide is student centered: allowing young minds to flourish through tailored sessions that are able to inspire young minds to reach their full potential and achieve their goals. The bottom line is that if for whatever reason you feel the student or tutor could do better then you need to do something about it.
How do NEGU Tuition Measure up?

Yes it is 4.3 Negutuition Reviews | Read Customer Service Reviews of negutuition.com (trustpilot.com) Were they recommended by someone that has used them before? Do they have recognised teaching qualifications and/or relevant experience? Absolutely! Do they have reviews over a period of time? They make English enjoyable for our child, and they help our child achieve their full potential. They are able to encourage your child to read what they would otherwise not. Our child appears to enjoy the lessons too.

Jackie is working miracles with my son. He looks forward to the session and is improving his knowledge and confidence hugely. He has mentioned that Jackie explains what he needs to know so that he finally understands it and that no one else has done that for him. Highly recommended
